The AKG K702 model has equalled the audio performance of the world-famous K701. Both of these AKG creations have a number of unique features that create a dramatic improvement in comparison to previous AKG 'best-of-category' headphones. The K702 model however differs from the K701model in colour, and also because the K702s have a detachable cable, while the equally esteemed K701s have a fixed hard-wire instead.

Technically speaking AKG has created a revolutionary diaphragm that is designed to provide smoother pistonic motion, and better acoustic resonance control. AKG have also incorporated a flat-wound voice coil into the AKG K702 design, which improves and enhances sound quality. The coil allows greater contractions of the magnetic field within the internal coil, which gives you the listener an ultra-articulate response, and clarity to the music.

The K702 model have a fully detachable cord that links to the headphones using a 3-pin 'mini-XLR' plug system. This gives a secure connection to the headphones, while also making it simple and easy to replace the cable should you ever have to. A point of note is that the K702 model does not come with a headphone stand.

Physically the AKG K702 have a luxurious finish, with 'ergonomically-perfect' earcup earpads, that are covered in soft black velour material, which not only look very attractive but also serve their purpose by being supremely comfortable. The earpieces have been most cleverly thought out in their design, as they ensure that the internal drivers within the headphones are at the correct listening angle.
